        Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant. It acts on the central nervous system to increase the level of certain chemicals (neurotransmitters) which
        improve depression.

        Amitriptyline mechanism of action treats mental/mood problems; improves the feeling of well-being and relieves anxiety.

        Amitriptyline works on the brain by affecting the balance of serotonin and other neurotransmitters. These neurotransmitters are responsible for mental and mood changes hence its action keeps them in a balance.

        Amitriptyline is excreted mostly in the urine; small amounts are also excreted in feces.

        Side Effects:
        As with all pharmaceutical medicine, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of amitriptyline tablets.
