Amitriptyline works on the brain by affecting the balance of serotonin and other neurotransmitters. These neurotransmitters are responsible for mental and mood changes hence its action keeps them in a balance.
Amitriptyline is excreted mostly in the urine; small amounts are also excreted in feces.
