What is Idarubicin Hydrochloride used for?

It is used to treat leukemia. Typically, it is combined with cytarabine as a first-line treatment for acute myeloid leukemia in adults. Idarubicin HCL (4-demethoxydaunorubicin) may also be used to treat relapsed acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

How should Idarubicin HCL Injection be used?

This medication has been manufactured as a powder, which is stored in a vial. The powder is to be prepared into a solution, and after reconstitution, it should be administered by slow injection into a vein.

Caution should be used when preparing and administering the solution, and goggles, gloves, and protective gowns are recommended.

What dose should be given?

The usual dose for adults is 12mg/m² daily for 3 days by slow injection.
