Ofloxacin Eye Drops are an antibiotic drug used to treat eye infections. It is indicated for the treatment of conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers in adults and children over 1 year old. Ofloxacin is not effective against fungal or viral infections. This medication is intended for topical use in the eyes.
Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It inhibits the action of an enzyme involved in repairing and replicating the genetic material (DNA) of bacteria.

Uses
What is Ofloxacin used for?
It is used to treat bacterial infections of the eyes, such as conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers.
How are Ofloxacin Eye Drops used?
This medication is manufactured as a sterile topical solution, which is intended for administration in the eyes. Always wash hands with soap and water before and after using this medication.
What dose should be taken?
For conjunctivitis, the usual dose is 1-2 drops given every 2-4 hours for 2 days. Then 1-2 drops, given 4 times a day for 5 days.
For corneal ulcers, the usual dose is 1-2 drops applied every 30 minutes while awake and every 4-6 hours while sleeping. Then 1-2 drops, given every hour while awake for 6 days, followed by 1-2 drops, given 4 times a day until the ulcer has healed.

Side Effects
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of Ofloxacin Eye Drops.

- mild stinging or irritation of the eyes

Precautions
Do NOT use Ofloxacin Eye Drops if:

You may experience blurred vision after using these eye drops. Do not drive or use heavy machines until your vision is clear.
There is little evidence concerning the use of Ofloxacin Eye Drops during breastfeeding or pregnancy, so consult a doctor or healthcare professional before treatment.
