Product Information
AdvaCare is a CE, ISO and USFDA manufacturer and global supplier of plain elastic bandage. The StayGuard™ brand of plain elastic bandage is internationally distributed and recognized for reliable quality and exceptional value. With distribution across developed and developing markets alike, our products are uniquely positioned as the brand of choice for medical professionals.
A plain elastic bandage is a type of elasticized, flexible bandage which is used to provide direct pressure to the area of a wound or injury, which restricts the flow of blood to the region.
This type of bandage is primarily used to treat muscle sprains and bone fractures, by providing support and compression. The material of the bandage dictates the degree and longevity of the compression.
Like many other types of bandages, the plain elastic bandage has an array of uses, including securing a dressing in place, slow the rate of bleeding, shield the wound from further exacerbation, prevent the entry of dirt and bacteria into the wound and holding the skin together to accelerate the healing process.
Some key properties for plain elastic bandage are that they must be durable enough to protect the wound, but retain a certain degree of flexibility to be able to move with the wearers’ movements and actions without coming undone.
Bandages are widely used for both professional and consumer needs, in hospitals, clinics, senior living facilities, schools, rehab facilities, sporting establishments, and households.
The range of elastic plain bandages offered by AdvaCare come in a plethora of different sizes and shapes to treat any wound located anywhere on the body.
The range of elastic plain bandages in the AdvaCare range is manufactured from a multitude of materials, including PBT, Fortified PBT, Spandex, Rubber, and Nylon + Cotton Infused with Cooling Solution. Each material is suited to a different purpose.

Usage:
Elastic plain bandages are ideal for protecting and facilitating the healing process of a cut, abrasion, blister, or other injuries, especially one that requires a high level of compression. Elastic plain bandages protect injuries from friction, exposure, and further damage which may worsen the wound and consequently prolong the healing time.
To apply the bandage, ensure the wound is cleaned thoroughly to remove any debris or foreign bodies. Ensure the shape and size of the bandage is applied to the area of the body that the bandage is being applied to. Place a dressing over the wound, and then apply the bandage, taking care not to wrap it too tightly, as circulation may be restricted. Take care not to touch the wound, as this may aggravate it. Changing the bandage and dressing daily is not necessary, as elastic plain bandages are designed to last for long term usage. If the bandage gets wet or soiled, it should be replaced with a fresh bandage.
It is imperative that elastic plain bandages are not used if the packaging or seal is compromised. Evidence of this may suggest tampering or loss of sterility. If one should come across bandages inside comprised packaging, the correct course of action is to dispose of it quickly and safely.
Precautions:
- It is important that elastic plain bandages are not reused. Once used, the device is not fit to be salvaged for further used, as sterilization cannot be retained. Re-using bandages can result in infections being transmitted, and the bandage losing its protective ability;
- Must prepare the bandages for use in a clean, sterile environment, absent of bodily fluids or other sources of contamination;
- Due to the tight compressions that are characteristic for this type of bandage, a medical professional should be the one to apply it;
- Elastic plain bandages should be stored in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight. Failure to do so may dry the bandage up, decreasing its healing and adherence properties;
- Promptly and safely dispose of any bandages that have touched a potentially contaminated surface;
- If bandages have blood or any other bodily substance on it, it must be handled as biohazard waste.
