What is Cold Syrup?
Active Ingredients: Dextromethorphan HBr, Guaifenesin, Phenylephrine HCL, Paracetamol
Cold Syrup (Dextromethorphan HBr, Guaifenesin, Phenylephrine HCL, Paracetamol) is a combination drug used for treating the common cold, flu, or allergies. This medicine helps relieve symptoms such as stuffy nose, coughing, congestion, and sneezing. This formulation is not used for coughing caused by respiratory conditions such as asthma or emphysema.
This product is available in two formulations: Cold&Flu Relief™ and Cold&Flu Relief MAX™. Both formulas contain the following three active ingredients:
- Dextromethorphan HBr is a cough suppressant that is classified as a morphinan. It is typically used for its antitussive properties. It works by interfering with the cough reflex.
- Guaifenesin is an expectorant that helps thin the mucus and phlegm in the lungs.
- Phenylephrine HCL is a decongestant that acts as a vasoconstrictor. It narrows blood vessels, which helps reduces swelling, itching, and discomfort.
Cold&Flu Relief MAX™ also includes the pain reliever and antipyretic, Paracetamol (acetaminophen), which helps reduce fever and relieve headache and pain.
