Lincomycin is an antibiotic which is used in the treatment certain bacterial infections in animals. It is used for the treatment of swine dysentery (Bloody Scours) associated with Brachyspira (Serpulina) hyodysenteriae in growing swine, and for the control of disease following treatment.

It is also used as an aid in reducing the clinical severity of porcine proliferative enteropathy (Ileitis) associated with Lawsonia intracellularis.

It suppresses the growth of harmful gut bacteria and promotes efficient feed utilization. It is commonly used on swine and poultry.

Advantages of lincomycin premixes are as follows:

  • Lincomycin is accepted for reducing the adverse effects of respiratory disease associated with m. hyopneumoniae and control of ileitis;
  • It is has a zero-day withdrawal;
  • Lincomycin is complemented by a broad range of m. hyopneumoniae management to help manage the disease and help in combating infections.

Common side effects include: temporary inflammation and irritation of the anus/vulva in swine, mild diarrhea and stool softening, reddening of the skin and irritable behavior in swine. Lincomycin should not be administered to rabbits, hamsters, horses, dairy cattle or other ruminants as it may result in gastrointestinal infections and metabolic disorders. Additional Information

Always consult a veterinary physician or animal care specialist before using lincomycin premix. If the condition does not improve or becomes worse, then call a veterinary physician or animal care specialist.

Lincomycin is not meant for human consumption and may cause irritation to the skin and mucous membranes. Protective clothing must be worn when handling the product.

Usual dosage includes: 110g per ton of feed to control swine dysentery caused by Lawsonia intracellularis. 220g per ton of feed for the reduction in the severity of respiratory disease associated with mycoplasma hyopneumoniae.
