Amitraz is a veteran tickicide and insecticide that is still abundantly used for plunge dipping and spraying. It is very effective against ticks and controls also mites and lice. But it is ineffective against many other insect parasites. Amitraz is toxic to cats and horses.

It is important to note that AdvaCare’s Amitraz drench is for veterinary purposes only and that you should only use the kind that has been prescribed by a veterinary doctor or animal care specialist for an animal.

Side Effects:
Some dog breeds such as Chihuahuas, Collies, Shepherds are quite susceptible to amitraz: it is better not to treat them with amitraz drenches.

For a comprehensive list of all possible effects, consult a veterinary physician. If any symptom persists or gets worse, or you notice any other symptom, then please seek veterinary medical treatment immediately.

Additional Information

Always consult a veterinary physician or animal care specialist before using amitraz drenches. If the condition does not improve or becomes worse, then call a veterinary physician or animal care specialist.

Refer to an animal care specialist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise, and complete the full treatment, as stopping early can result in a recurrence or a worsening of the problem.

The duration of administration depends on the type of condition that is being treated, response to the medication, and the development of any unfavorable effects. Be sure to complete the medicine unless specifically directed by your veterinarian. Even if your pet feels good, the entire treatment plan should be completed to prevent relapse or prevent the development of resistance.

Consult with an animal care specialist about any other medications that are being taken by the animal, and their medical history, before their treatment with amitraz drench.
