Refer to an animal care specialist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise, and complete the full treatment, as stopping early can result in a recurrence or a worsening of the problem. The usual dose is to be administered by the intramuscular route. The daily dose of penicillin is 3000 units per pound of body weight (1ml per 100lbs of body weight). Continue daily treatment until recovery is apparent and for at least one day after symptoms is not occurring anymore, usually in two to three days.
Consult with an animal care specialist about any other medications that are being taken by the animal, and their medical history, before their treatment with penicillin G procaine + neomycin injection.
