General Information:
AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Procaine Penicillin G + Neomycin Sulfate injections.

Procaine penicillin G + neomycin sulfate injections are broad spectrum combined antibiotic which is used in the treatment of infectious diseases in horses, sheep, pigs, dogs and cats caused by bacteria sensitive to the combination.

Procaine penicillin G is active against gram-negative and most gram positive bacteria. Neomycin is a broad spectrum antibiotic which is active against both gram positive and gram negative bacteria.

It works against E.rhusiopathiae, streptococcus spp. and A.pyogenes and towards the majority of tested isolates of Pasteurella, Salmonella, Klebisella and Staphylococcus species.

Side Effects:
As with all veterinary medicine, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of procaine penicillin G and neomycin sulfate injections. Always consult a veterinary physician or animal care specialist for medical advice before use.

No side effects have been detected yet, a transient local reaction may occur at the site of injection. If you notice any serious effects or other effects not mentioned on this package, please inform your veterinary surgeon.

Indications and Usage

Bactracillin G is indicated for treatment of bacterial pneumonia (shipping fever) caused by Pasteurella multocida in cattle and sheep, erysipelas caused by Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae in swine, and strangles caused by Streptococcus equi in horses.

It is also indicated in the treatment of acute and sub-acute bovine mastitis in milking cows, accompanied by pain and inflammation caused by bacteria sensitive to penicillin, streptomycin and neomycin therapy.

  • Hypersensitivity to penicillin and/or procaine;
  • Administration to animals with a seriously impaired renal function;
  • Concurrent administration of tetracyclins, chloramphenicol, macrolides and lincosamides.

Do not administer by the intravenous route.

Administration and Dosage

Administration should be by deep intramuscular injection in all species.

Usual dosage is as follows: 5mg of procaine penicillin G and neomycin sulfate per kg body weight for cattle, pigs and horses and 10mg of procaine penicillin G and neomycin sulfate per kg body weight in small animals (intramuscularly). Procaine penicillin G and neomycin sulfate injections shouldn’t be administered if any hypersensitivity is discovered.

Maximum dose for cattle and horses is 25 ml and for pigs is 6 ml.

The daily dose of penicillin is 3,000 units per 45 kg of body weight. Continue daily treatment until recovery is apparent and for at least one day after symptoms disappear, usually in two to three days. Treatment should not exceed four consecutive days.

Refer to an animal care specialist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise, and complete the full treatment, as stopping early can result in a recurrence or worsening of the problem.

  • Hypersensitivity to penicillins may lead to cross-sensitivity to cephalosporins and vice versa;
  • .

  • If the animals develop the symptoms such as skin rash or any other skin allergies, seek medical advice with a veterinarian;
  • Swelling of the face, lips or eyes or difficult breathing are more serious symptoms and require urgent medical attention.

Milk taken from treated dairy animals within 48 hours after the last treatment must not be used for human consumption. Discontinue use of this drug for the following time period before treated animals are slaughtered for food:

  • Cattle – 14 days;
  • Sheep – 9 days;
  • Swine – 7 days.

A withdrawal period has not been established for this product in pre-ruminating calves. Do not use in calves to be processed for veal.

Do not use in horses intended for human consumption. Not for use in humans. Keep out of reach of children.


With very high overdoses a diminished immune response can be observed. However, if overdose is suspected, seek emergency medical attention.
