Indications and Usage

Treatment and prevention of infections caused by Gram-positive and/ or Gram-negative microorganisms sensitive to penicillin and/or dihydrostreptomycin, like respiratory infections (rhinitis, laryngitis, bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, pneumonia), urogenital infections (nephritis, pyelonephitis, cystitis, metritis), peritonitis, wound infections, polyarthritis and septicaemia.

Contraindications and Usage
  • Administration in renal insufficiency or in states of dehydration, or in animals younger than a month is not recommended;
  • Concurrent administration with tetracyclines, chloramphenicol, macrolides and lincosamide.
Administration and Dosage

For intramuscular administration only.

Usual dosage is as follows: 4ml of procaine penicillin G and dihydrostreptomycin sulfate injections per 100kg body weight (or 8000IU procaine penicillin and 10mg dihydrostreptomycin sulphate per kg) in cattle and 1ml of procaine penicillin G and dihydrostreptomycin sulfate per 10kg body weight in calves, goats and swine.

The maximum dose volume recommended at any one site for cattle is 20 ml.

Treatment should be given once daily for up to 3 consecutive days. The maximum dose volume administered at one site should not exceed 6 ml for cattle, 3 ml for goats and 1.5 ml for swine.

Refer to an animal care specialist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise, and complete the full treatment, as stopping early can result in a recurrence or worsening of the problem.
