Product Information

General Information:
AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Nitrendipine tablets.

Nitrendipine decreases blood pressure as a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. It is used to treat primary hypertension and can also help to reduce cardiotoxicity of cocaine. Nitrendipine has a marked vasodilator action.

Nitrendipine is absorbed by the gut after ingestion and metabolized y the liver. It reaches the smooth muscle and cardiac muscle cells and binds to L-type calcium channels. Nitrendipine then diffuses into the membrane and is believed to have tyrosine and threonine residues in its binding pockets. Reducing calcium levels prevents smooth muscle contractions, unable smooth muscle dilation which reduces total peripheral resistance and decreases the workload on the heart. This prevents scarring and heart failure.

Nitrendipine can also act as an antagonist to mineralocorticoid receptor. It can also act as an anti-mineralocorticoid. It does not reduce glomerular filtration rate and is mildly natriuretic, rather than sodium retentive.
