AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Aluminum Hydroxide tablets.

Aluminium Hydroxide Tablets used to treat symptoms of increased stomach acid, such as heartburn, upset stomach, sour stomach, or acid indigestion. Aluminum hydroxide is also used to reduce phosphate levels in people with certain kidney conditions.

Take this medication with a full glass (8 ounces) of water. Aluminum hydroxide is usually taken between meals or at bedtime and does not take it for longer than 2 weeks.

Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of aluminium hydroxide tablets. Always consult a doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use. Common side effects include, but may not be limited to severe stomach pain, pain when you urinate, tired feeling and loss of appetite.

Seek medical attention if the following develop:

  • Severe stomach pain or constipation;
  • Bloody, black, or tarry stools;
  • Coughing up blood that looks like coffee grounds;
  • Pain when you urinate;
  • Extreme drowsiness;
  • Tired feeling, loss of appetite, and muscle weakness.

Driving or operating machinery is okay, as impaired driving ability is only reported by a few people who took aluminium hydroxide tablets.

Do NOT use aluminium hydroxide before asking your doctor if you have kidney disease, kidney stones, and severe constipation and if you are dehydrated or if you drink alcohol frequently. Do not take aluminum hydroxide for longer than 2 weeks without your doctor’s advice.

Use of aluminum hydroxide tablets during pregnancy or breast feeding is safe, although there are no medical studies that prove it. Consult your doctor or health care professional before taking aluminum hydroxide.

Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise.

Usual dose for adults is:

  • Usual adult dose for dyspepsia= 500 to 600mg orally 4 to 6 times a day as needed, between meals and at bedtime;
  • Usual adult dose for duodenal ulcer= 500 to 1500mg orally 4 to 6 times a day as needed, between meals and at bedtime;
  • Usual adult dose for erosive esophagitis= 500 to 1500mg orally 4 to 6 times a day as needed, between meals and at bedtime;
  • Usual adult dose for gastric ulcer= 500 to 1500mg orally 4 to 6 times a day as needed, between meals and at bedtime;
  • Usual adult dose for gastroesophageal reflux disease= 500 to 1500mg orally 4 to 6 times a day as needed, between meals and at bedtime;
  • Usual adult dose for zollinger-ellison syndrome= 500 to 3600mg orally 4 to 6 times a day as needed, between meals and at bedtime;
  • Usual adult dose for hyperphosphatemia= 500 to 1000mg orally 4 times a day, with meals and at bedtime. The dosage should be titrated to the serum phosphate level.
