Ferrous sulfate tablets belong to a class of drugs called iron supplements. These drugs work by replacing the iron stores from the body.
Iron is an essential mineral which the body requires to produce red blood cells. When the body does not get enough iron, it cannot produce the number of normal red blood cells needed to transport oxygen which eventually leads to a condition called, iron-deficiency anemia, Therefore supplementation of iron becomes very vital hence this supplementation not only combat iron deficiency anemia but also promote maintenance of good health.
Ferrous sulfate tablets are majorly used for the prevention and treatment of iron-deficiency anemia.
Ferrous sulphate tablets are contraindicated with hemochromatosis and hemolytic anemia.
