General Information:
AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Albendazole tablets.

Albendazole Tablets are a broad spectrum anthelmintic or anti-worm medication. Albendazole is a member of the benzimidazole compounds used as a drug indicated for the treatment of a variety of worm infestations effective against roundworms, tapeworms, and flukes of domestic animals and humans.

Albendazole Tablets are also used to treat cystic hydatid disease of the liver, lung, and peritoneum, caused by the larval form of the dog tapeworm.

Keep out of the reach of children and store at room temperature between 20 and 25 degrees C. You may crush or chew tablets and swallow with a drink of water.

Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of albendazole tablets.

Always consult a doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use. Common side effects include, but may not be limited to diarrhea, dizziness, hair loss, and headache.

Seek medical attention if the following develop:

  • Allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue.
  • Changes in vision.
  • Fever, chills, sore throat.
  • Redness, blistering, peeling or loosening of the skin, including the inside the mouth.
  • Seizures.
  • Signs and symptoms of liver injury like dark yellow or brown urine; general ill feeling or flu-like symptoms; light-colored stools; loss of appetite; nausea; right upper belly pain; unusually weak or tired; yellowing of the eyes or skin.
  • Unusual bleeding, bruising.

Driving or operating machinery is okay, as it does not cause any ailment. Adverse effects on the ability to drive or operate machinery have not been observed.

Do NOT use Albendazole tablet if:
Albendazole should not be administered during pregnancy or in women thought to be pregnant. It is not known whether albendazole or its metabolites are secreted in human breast milk. Thus albendazole should not be used during lactation unless the potential benefits are considered to outweigh the potential risks associated with treatment.

Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise.

Usual dose for adults is:

  • Less than 60kg: 15mg/kg/day orally in divided doses twice a day with meals Maximum dose: 800mg/day;
  • 60kg or more: 400mg orally twice a day with meals;
  • Duration of therapy: 28-day cycle followed by a 14-day drug-free interval, for a total of 3 cycles.

Usual does for children is:

  • Children less than 20kg: 200mg orally as a single dose; repeat in 2 weeks;
  • Children at least 20kg: 400mg orally as a single dose; repeat in 2 weeks;
  • Some experts recommend: 400mg orally as a single dose; repeat in 2 weeks.

Albendazole may interact with the following medications: cimetidine, dexamethasone, praziquantel and theophylline.
