If your condition does not improve or becomes worse, then call your doctor.
Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how methydopa tablets affect you.
Do NOT use methyldopa tablets if:
- Allergic to the ingredients.
There is little evidence with regards to the use of methyldopa tablets during pregnancy or breast feeding, and so consult your doctor or health care professional before taking methyldopa tablets.
Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise.
Usual dose for adults is: 250mg two to three times daily for the first 48 hours then increased or decreased at intervals of at least two days.
Usual dose for children is 10mg/kg two to four doses daily for the initial dosage increased to a maximum dose of 65 mg/kg or 3g daily, whichever is less.
Possible interactions include MAO inhibitors, iron products, and lithium. Consult with your doctor about any medications you are taking, before your treatment with methyldopa tablets.
