Ciprofloxacin HCL lactate eye drops, a quinolone antibiotic, treat bacterial infections. They stop the production of proteins needed by bacteria to survive, thus killing or preventing the growth of sensitive bacteria. Ciprofloxacin HCL lactate eye drops will not treat colds, the flu, or other virus infections.

Side Effects:

Indications and Usage

You should not use ciprofloxacin for more than 3 weeks, unless instructed to by your doctor.

Wash your hands before you begin. Tilt your head back while pulling down your lower eyelid with a finger and put a drop of ciprofloxacin hcl lactate in your eye. Bring the bottle tip very close to the eye and do it in front of a mirror if it helps.

Do not touch your eye, eyelid, surrounding areas, or other surfaces with the dropper, as it may infect the drops. Do not squeeze the bottle. Only a gentle press on the bottom is needed to release one drop at a time. If you use drops in both eyes, repeat the steps for your other eye.

If you forget to take a dose, do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.


Do not take ciprofloxacin HCL lactate eye drops if:

  • You are allergic to it, or any of the ingredients;
  • You are wearing contact lenses;
  • you are taking other medicines and herbal or vitamin supplements.
