AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Chlorpromazine HCL injections.

Chlorpromazine hydrochloride injection is an antipsychotic phenothiazine medication. Chlorpromazine HCL injection is primarily used to treat mania and psychotic disorders. Psychotic disorders it is commonly used to treat are schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It can also be used to treat nausea and vomiting.

Chlorpromazine HCl works by affecting the balance of chemicals in the brain. In 1mL of injection, there is chlorpromazine hydrochloride 25mg, ascorbic acid 2mg, sodium metabisulfite 1mg, sodium sulfite 1mg and sodium chloride 6mg.

Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of chlorpromazine HCl. Always consult a doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use.

Common side effects include, but may not be limited to constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, muscle rigidity, insomnia, dry mouth, sexual impotence, changes in menstrual periods, weight gain, agitation, dry mouth/eyes, hypotension, and skin sensitivity. Seek medical attention if the following develop: confusion, difficulty urinary, abnormal heartbeat, extrapyramidal movements, stiffness, sexual difficulties, fever, weakness, or jaundice.

Driving or operating machinery should be avoided as it may cause drowsiness. Do not operate machinery until you know how the medication affects you.

Do NOT use chlorpromazine HCL injection for:

  • Patients hypersensitive to chlorpromazine or other phenothiazines;
  • Patients in a coma;
  • Patients with decreased functioning of central nervous system due to depressant use;
  • Patients with brain damage or blood disorder;
  • Patients with decreased functioning of bone marrow or liver.

Chlorpromazine HCl during pregnancy or breast feeding should only be used if necessary. It should not be used close to term because it may present dangers to the infant. This medication can affect the infant, so consult your doctor or health care professional before administering chlorpromazine HCL.
Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise. Usual dose to treat psychoses for adults is: 25 to 75mg daily divided in every 6 to 12 hours. To treat nausea and vomiting, the recommend adult dose is 10 – 25mg every 4 hours. Dosage for children 6 months or older depends upon body weight: 0.5mg/kg every 4 to hours for psychoses.

Chlorpromazine HCl can interact with alcohol, MAO inhibitor, blood pressure medications, antihistamines, barbiturates, opioids, bupropion, and many more. Consult with your doctor about any conditions you have or medications you are taking before your treatment with chlorpromazine HCL injection.
