General Information:
AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Vitamin K3 injections.

Vitamin K3 is used to make prothrombin and other proteins which are important in blood clotting. It also plays a role in the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin, another protein important in blood clot formation.

Vitamin K3 is necessary for the conversion of osteocalcin to its active form. It is also necessary for the function of a protein known as MGP which is present in bones, teeth, and cartilage.

Vitamin K3 is necessary for the production of a urinary protein involved in kidney function which inhibits the formation of calcium oxalate kidney stones.

Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of Vitamin K3. Always consult a doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use.

Common side effects include, but may not be limited to pain, swelling, or soreness at the injection site may occur. Temporary flushing, taste changes, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, sweating, shortness of breath, or bluish lips/skin/nails may also rarely occur. Seek medical attention if the following develop: (Pain, swelling, or soreness at the injection site may occur. Do NOT use vitamin K3 injection if:

  • you are allergic to vitamin K3.

There is little evidence with regards to the use of vitamin K3 injection during pregnancy or breast feeding, and so consult your doctor or health care professional before having Vitamin K3 injection.
Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise. Usual dose for adults is: severe hypoprothrombinaemia: adult: intramuscular 2.5-10mg daily. Usual dose for children is: intravenous: 1-5mcg/kg/day.
If you are using a certain “blood thinner” drug (warfarin), vitamin K can decrease the effects of warfarin for up to 2 weeks. Consult with your doctor about any medications you are taking, before your treatment with vitamin K3 injection.
