If your condition does not improve or becomes worse, then call or contact with your doctor.
Driving or operating machinery should be avoided as it may cause drowsiness or blurred vision. Do not operate machinery until you know how the medication works on you.
Do NOT use hyoscine butylbromide if:
- You are allergic to hyoscine or other containing ingredients;
- You have glaucoma, myasthenia gravis, paralytic ileus, tachycardia, hypertrophy with urination retention, megacolon, or pyloric stenosis.
There is little evidence with regards to the use of hyoscine butylbromide during pregnancy or breast feeding, and so consult your doctor or health care professional before administering. This medication should only be used if the benefits outweigh the risks.
Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise. Usual dose for adults is: 20-40mg IV several times a day. Usual dose for children is: 0.3 – 0.6mg/kg several times a day. Maximum daily dose for adults is 100mg and for children is 1.2mg/kg.
Alcohol should be avoided while taking this medication as it can increase drowsiness. There are possible interactions with other medications, such as antidepressants, quinine, antipsychotics, antihistamines, and other anticholinergics. Inform your doctor about any medications you are taking or medical conditions you have before your treatment with hyoscine butylbromide.
