AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Diatrizoate Meglumine + Diatrizoate Sodium injections.

Diatrizoate meglumine/diatrizoate sodium injection is used for radiographic examination (X-ray) of the GI tract. It is usually indicated when a more viscous agent that is not water-soluble is not feasible and potentially dangerous. It can also be used for contrast enhancement for body imaging.

Side Effects:

Common side effects include, but may not be limited to cramping, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, skin rashes, itching, heartburn, and headache. Do NOT use (product) if:

  • You are hypersensitive or allergic to diatrizoate meglumine or diatrizoate sodium;
  • You have low plasma volume;
  • You have hyperthyroidism.

There is little evidence with regards to the use of diatrizoate meglumine/diatrizoate sodium injection during pregnancy or breast feeding, and so consult your doctor or health care professional before administering diatrizoate meglumine/diatrizoate sodium injection. Because diatrizoate salts cross the placenta and are excreted in breast milk, diatrizoate meglumine/diatrizoate sodium injection should only be used when needed.

Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise. Dosing depends on the type of imaging needed.

Inform your doctor if you have any allergies, medical conditions, or are taking any medications. The iodine in the diatrizoate meglumine/diatrizoate sodium injection could interfere with thyroid tests if needed in the future. This injection may have possible interactions with thyroid medications, iodine-containing medications, antacids, and H2-antagonists.
