Do NOT use clindamycin phosphate if:
- You have an allergy to clindamycin or lincomycin;
- You have Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, any other type of colitis, or any condition that affects your intestines.
Use of clindamycin phosphate during pregnancy or breast feeding is not recommended as it can be found in breastmilk. Consult your doctor or health care professional before taking clindamycin phosphate.
Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise. Usual dose for adults is: for serious infections – 150 to 300mg every 6 hours. For more severe infections, the usual dosage is 300 to 450mg every 6 hours. The usual dose for children depends on conditions and weight; take this medication according to doctors’ advice.
Other drugs may interact with clindamycin, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Consult with your doctor about any medications you are taking, before your treatment with clindamycin phosphate.
