Product Information

General Information:
AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Cefradine capsules.

Cefradine, also known as cephradine, is a cephalosporin antibiotic.

It works to treat bacterial infections including:

  • Bladder, urethra;
  • Sinusitis;
  • Skin infections;
  • Chest infections (bronchitis or pneumonia) ;
  • Pharyngitis;
  • Laryngo-tracheo bronchitis;
  • Ear infections (otitis media);

Its effect is binding to the bacterial protein, which in turn inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis and forces the bacterial cell to lose.

Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of cefradine. Always consult your doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use. Seek medical attention if the following develop: severe bloody diarrhea, blistering of the skin, itchy skin, swelling of the face, lips, and tongue, or difficulty breathing tightness in the chest. Other rare but serious side effects are nausea, vomiting, headache, confusion, a sudden blood disorder, temporary liver problems, fever, heartburn, and tightness in the chest, thrush, or sore tongue or mouth.

For a comprehensive list of all possible effects, consult your doctor.

If any symptom persists or gets worse, or you notice any other symptom, then please call your doctor immediately.

Additional Information

Do NOT use cefradine if:

  • You are having any allergic signs to cefradine or to penicillin antibiotics.

There is little evidence with regards to the use of cefradine during pregnancy or breast feeding, so consult your doctor or health care professional before taking cefradine.
Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise. Usual dose for adults is: 250 to 500mg for 4 times a day. Usual does for children is: 25mg to 50mg/kg body.
Tell your doctor if you are taking diuretics, ‘water tablets’ such as furosemide, or probenecid. Consult with your doctor about any medications you are taking, before your treatment with cefradine.
