Ondansetron HCL tablets block the actions of chemicals in the body that can trigger nausea and vomiting caused by surgery or by medicines used to treat cancer (chemotherapy or radiation).

You should note that this medicine is not for preventing nausea or vomiting that is caused by factors other than cancer treatment or surgery.

Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of ondansetron tablets. Always consult a doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use. Common side effects include, but may not be limited to diarrhea or constipation, headache, drowsiness or tired feeling. Seek medical attention if the following develop: fast or pounding heartbeats, jaundice, blurred vision or temporary vision loss (lasting from only a few minutes to several hours) or high levels of serotonin in the body, agitation, hallucinations, fever, fast heart rate, overactive reflexes, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of coordination, fainting.

Do NOT use ondansetron hcl if:

  • You are also using apomorphine.
  • You are allergic to ondansetron or to similar medicines such as dolasteron, granisetron or palonosetron.
  • You have liver disease, or a personal or family history of Long QT syndrome.
  • You have phenylketonuria.

Use of ondanestron during pregnancy or breast feeding should be avoided. Consult your doctor or health care professional before having this medicine.
