Dactinomycin powder for injection is a type of antibiotic that is only used in cancer chemotherapy. It works by slowing down or stopping the growth of cancer cells in the body. Dactinomycin powder for injection is used as a treatment for Wilms’ tumors, Ewing sarcoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, trophoblastic neoplasms, and metastatic nonseminomatous testicular carcinoma.
It is also indicated as a single agent, or as part of a combination chemotherapy regimen to treat gestational trophoblastic neoplasia. Dactinomycin is a palliative that can be used alone or as a adjunctive treatment for recurrent or locoregional solid malignancies.
