AdvaCare is a CE, ISO and USFDA manufacturer of Vaginal Speculums.
A Vaginal Speculum is used by gynecologists to open the vagina walls. This use of the vaginal speculum allows the gynecologist a visual inspection of the vagina and cervix, as well as a way to collect the cervical cells necessary for a Pap smear test. The vaginal speculum can also be used to detect medical conditions such as cancer, amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, infertility, prolapse, and infections and diseases. A vaginal speculum is also used by gynecologists to perform various surgeries.
Different types of vaginal speculum commonly used are:
Pederson Speculum: Pederson speculum is a flat narrow speculum which will be used in women with narrow vaginal canals. Narrow vaginal canals can be found in women who never had any sexual intercourse. Pederson speculum is a double blade duckbill speculum inserted with the blades closed. The blades can be opened by an external screw.
Cusco speculum: This type of speculum can be folded up so it’s easier to transport and store because it takes less place. This speculum is available with screws at the side, center and in special narrow virgin size.
Cusco speculum is available in different sizes and it can also help inserting uterine devices. Cusco Speculum is also commonly used in endoscopy. Cusco speculum offers different types, both for virgin and non-virgin women. The typical size of cusco vaginal speculum is 80 mm in length and 22mm in width.
