Urine test strips or dipstick test is a simple diagnostic tool. The strips are fast, accurate and color coded. A reagent is added to the test strip which reacts to certain pathogens in the urine. This will cause a reaction that results in different colors, which indicates the presence or absence of the disease. The test strips are ribbon-like made up of plastic or paper of about 5 millimeters wide.
Plastic strips have pads impregnated with chemicals that react with the compounds present in urine, producing a characteristic color. In the paper strips; the reactants are absorbed directly onto the paper.
Urinalysis Test Strips are used to detect a broad spectrum of diseases. The test is designed to identify proteins, sugars, organic compounds, bacteria, chemicals that are usually found in red blood cells, and white blood cell count. It also tests the acidity and mass ration of pathogens.
Urinalysis test strips are used for screening in high-risk areas and for treatment and monitoring urinary diseases. They could be used to rule out possible infections and diseases if symptoms are still present when getting negative results.
